The Austrian banking holding company Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI) has entered into a partnership agreement with the fintech platform Bitpanda. Thanks to this agreement, the group’s subsidiaries in Central and Eastern Europe will be able to integrate digital asset trading directly into their customer apps. Bitpanda will handle all technical aspects and infrastructure.

RBI has a total of approximately 18 million users. The rollout of crypto services will begin gradually in the first half of 2027. As reported by Cointelegraph, bank customers in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Albania will be the first to gain access to these services. Each regional division will independently decide which specific instruments to offer and when to launch them, taking into account local legislation and market conditions.

This is not the group’s first such venture. For example, since 2024, users have been able to trade digital coins via the mobile banking app of Austria’s Raiffeisenlandesbank Niederösterreich-Wien, which also partners with Bitpanda. Bitpanda itself actively offers its white-label solutions to the traditional financial sector. For example, similar functionality for buying and selling tokens is already available at the German neobank N26.

A bit of background on Bitpanda: The company was founded in Vienna in 2014. Initially, it was a standard crypto broker, but over time it evolved into a multi-asset platform and a B2B infrastructure provider for major banks.

Bitpanda now has over 7 million registered users. In 2021, during a funding round, the company was valued at $4.1 billion when it raised $263 million led by Peter Thiel’s fund, Valar Ventures.

In terms of marketing, the fintech company is the official crypto partner of London’s Arsenal. In early 2026, Bloomberg reported that Bitpanda was preparing for an IPO on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange with a potential valuation of 4–5 billion euros. However, in September, the company’s management decided to postpone the listing, opting to wait for more favorable market conditions.
